Craft fairs for 2026

This year I'm hoping to get a few more craft fairs, I would particularly like to get into a few farmers markets and a Christmas market as I have so many ideas of things to make.

Aprons, bunting, advent calendars, Christmas stockings in red green and cream, cross stitch book marks, hat and scarf sets, tote bags containing crayons, pencils and a colouring book, Christmas jumpers in different sizes, Christmas rompers, red and green blankets, tree hangers, small draw top gift bags, bibs and bandanas, and the usual jumpers, cardigans, dresses and brushed jersey rompers.

Happy new year

Hello 2026, I though I would add a quick blog showing some of my latest work that's ready for when this years craft fairs start, I'm hoping to get 4 or 5 this year and a big 2 day event in November for Christmas.

All of these have some cable work on them which makes them look a bit fancy.

These are all made using my favorite Pato yarn

Donations for Ukraine

Whilst in the village the other day, I popped in to my local wool shop to pick up some felt, (more about that at another time)

Whilst talking to Val the owner, I asked what the latest village knit along was, and was informed it was knitted items for Ukraine, so when I got home I sorted through my craft fair boxes and selected a big bag of jumpers, cardigans, hats, mitts and a few blankets, which I took into Val a few days later.

Now I'm using up my wool scraps making hats, mitts and blankets and any other items I have enough wool to make for her to add to her boxes she posts off, I'm hoping to do a few Aran and chunky jumpers for extra warmth.

I'm making items from new born to 6-7 yrs

Here are a few hats and mitts, I also made a few chunky jackets, and blankets which ae now all on the way to the Ukraine in time for the winter

New fabrics

I found out a few weeks ago that my favorite fabric shop #SomethingSpecial #Holt, was closing down and had a half price sale, so I treated myself to the these beautiful fabrics and threads

I'm going to really enjoy making sundresses, tops, shorts and rompers in the future with these fabrics, I think the grey elephant fabric will make delightful rompers, and the raspberry fabric will make a lovely sundress the star fabric will make a striking set of tops and shorts.

I think spring flower fabric will make a lovely little sunsuit for a baby and the poppy and frog fabric will make great long legged rompers

All ready for my craft fairs table

Vintage mob cap

I've been wanting to made a few sun hats, so I've a template for a new born vintage mob cap, I decided to made it reversable with a patterned fabric on one side and plain on the other.

Over the years I've collected lots of lace and ribbons also some patches so I'm thinking adding something to make them standout

These are a few of the ones I've made so far.

Sugared almonds

Next project

Now we live in Norfolk, and I'm newly retired, I've been sorting out my sewing/craft room and I've been sorting my yarns into weight mostly double knit, but I also have Aran, Chunky and some really adorable 4 ply. and I've sorted the yarn into colours and now I can see exactly what I have I've decided to make a "Sugared Almond" collection.

I have a lot of really pretty cardigan patterns and I'm going to made 1 of each colour, yellow, pink, blue, green and lilac.

So the first item I made was a little 14" chest baby blue vee neck cardigan, using #JamesCBrett top value double knit, which is super soft, and super snazzy buttons.

Here's the second item a lovely lacey cardigan in #Stylecraft special double knit in soft peach but looks like very pale pink, and very pretty flower buttons.

This is the third item, its a super soft lemon and white striped cardigan, made in #Woolcraft baby care yellow and #The Women's Institute white

Number 3 is a lacy vee neck cardigan in baby mint by #Yarnfair Tootsy baby double knit

Last but not least number 4.  pretty lilac jumper in #JamesCBrett #Supersoft baby double knit, instead of the usual ribbing this pattern has a lacy band around the bottom, sleeves and neck and a lovely heart and hole patterned body.

Pram suits

                                                            New project

Many years ago when I had my first daughter,  as a leaving present I was brought a little red and white knitted pram suit, from one of the girls I worked with.

I did make a little set for my first grandson Edward using fisherman's rib and now I'm going to made one for my new grandson Matthew.

So I've been looking through my patterns some going back over 40 yrs and I selected a number of patterns I want to make, with various patterns on the jumpers, I'm going to mix and match jumpers to leggings from different patterns, I'm going to make 2 piece sets rather than onesies for ease of nappy changes.

I think the smaller suits I'll do with feet, and from 6 months as trousers, but you'll see I made these two as trousers.

These will ideal for the autumn and winter months, and are also perfect for using in car seats when babies cant wear their coats, they can be lifted straight out of the car seats and into their prams without having to mess about putting coats on.

I'll start with a new born one first to see how they look and ask a few people what they think and then I'll make them in various sizes up to a year.

                                                        A selection of patterns

                                                        A selection of yarns

                                        Hoodie and leggings pictures

I made this set using white yarn specked with orange and green and white leggings with cuffs and waist band in contrasting yarn, this one fits a 16" chest 0-3 months

And this one in yellow, green and white to fit 14" chest new born ideal for bringing your new baby home from hospital.

So I've made 2 so far I'm hoping to make a few more at a later date.
