Sensory gift

How to make a sensory square

Recently I've received 2 special request for sensory play square.   So I though I would do a how to made blog.

I'm going to use fat quarters to make the main part of these, this I normally choose a polycotton for the front and soft fleece or absorbent toweling for the back, and different ribbons.

Once I've cut these to the size I want I usually do 6.5" x 6.5" I then select the sensory ribbons to go around the edges between 2 and 3 each side.

Firstly I sew the ribbons on making sure to catch both ends.

Then I attached the backing so the front and back are face to face, and sew again making sure the ribbons are all sewn in, leaving a small gap to pull through to the right side.

I then sew around the complete square this ensures the ribbons are secure and triple sewn for security

Summer dresses and other things.

Its been a long time since I've been able to get out my sewing machine, and since the last time I've now got a brand new sewing machine, that has embroidery stitches and alphabet and numbers, and a dedicated sewing room to use.

I was thinking of making sun dresses, cargo pants, shorts, tops and romper suits.

One idea I've had is to put a decorative stitch around the hem line, I have lots of lovely materials to choose from, poly cottons, and cotton jerseys, there's also a large selection of ribbons and laces.

These are soft jersey cotton

Watch this space to more ideas.

Sewing room re-visited

Its been a while but after a unexpected stay in hospital for 4 weeks then a further week for surgery and moths of rest, we finally got round to sorting out my sewing room these are the before photos.

With the storage units built by the husband almost complete.

just needs painting and I can start putting my yarns on the own cubicles

Its now got its nice white gloss finish

I can now go straight to the yarn I'm looking for rather than searching through numerous boxes, and my materials and fat quarters are easy to find all sorted on shelves in the cupboard

The third one is  #Posh Crafts craft fair at the #Belfry in Overstrand, on the 13th May

The  4th one is also in Overstrand on the 11th November at #Overstrand Together, Christmas Bazaar which is situated in 6 different venues.

So I've been busy knitting like crazy to make sure I have plenty of stock, and I'm going to be making lots of Christmas jumpers and outfits for those special little people in our lives, and little matching bootees, mitts and hats, which make perfect little baby shower gift or Christmas presents.

Its looks like Christmas is coming

After spending most of November and the week before Christmas in hospital last year, I'm looking forward to spending Christmas this year with the family so.

Firstly, I've made my Christmas cake.

Lots for fruit and a healthy splash of Jack Daniels, Jim Beam apple and sour cherry liquor and fresh orange lemon and lime juice and stout to make the fruit lovely and plump

Then with the help of grandson Edward we picked our tree after a trip of the Santa train on the Bure Valley railway and lunch.

Mince pies with a dash of Jack Daniels and make using short crust pastry bottom and puff pastry top

Sausage Rolls and vegetarian sausage rolls, these have finely diced apple, lightly fried onion and sage to make them super special

Jam tarts made using jam from @Mundesley Jams

Home made yule log with lovely butter icing and decorated with a Christmas scene

Hoodies

Comfy hoodies

After visiting many craft fairs I've noticed that there are not many hoodies available so I've these two for my next craft fair.

I particularly like this striking yellow and grey one

Both of these are perfect for car seats and when its not quite cold enough for a coat but still chilly enough to a warm top.

Back to craft fairs

Looking for craft fairs

Now we've moved and settled in, I'm looking at starting craft fairs again, its been a while since my last fair, so I'm going to completely re-vamp my stock and starting small, firstly I'm going to make bootees, mitts and hat sets, then jackets, jumpers and cardigans, and possibly knitted leggings in co-ordinating colours, that can be mixed and matched.

To catch customers eyes I'm going to make lovely bright colours.

With this in mind I'm hoping the local craft fairs are going to  start to open up again soon and I can visit them and get some booked for next yr. I'm even thinking of re-opening our Etsy shop so I must get the needles out and get some stock made.

I've now book a table at #Posh Crafts, craft fair on the 30th April at The Coronation Hall in Mundesley

Really looking forward to meet some new people and hopefully make some new friends.

So come along and see me and all my new knitwear and you might find something for the little person in your family

The #Posh Crafts craft fair at Mundesley went really well, I met a lot of local people and made a few new crafter friends, and I'm hoping to get another stall soon.
