Are you selling your knitwear ?

If your selling your knitwear here are a few tips:

1}    Photos :
When taking photo's always check your background, settings & lighting as these will make all the difference if your using a smart phone use the photo enhancer to made a sharper picture.

2}    Marketing :
Describe  your item with trigger words, i.e. baby, toddler, handmade.  And never underprice your items cheap isn't always best.
Where to sell? online, craft fairs and farmers markets are some of the best places and you also met lots of new friends and return customers.

3}    Have confidence :
Be confident must people cant do the work you've done, choosing the pattern and yarns used and knitting a beautiful item, take pride in your work .

4}    Deposit :
ALWAYS take a deposit that covers the materials you will use, or take the full amount if that's what you would prefer, as we all know people change their minds and wont pay or disappear from all contact when it comes to paying.

5}    Packaging :
Choose your packaging, I personally use tissue paper, tied with ribbon and placed in a plastic envelope with a business card, and a thank you note.  If someone buys something a little more expensive I offend add a little extra gift, like a bib or a pair of cotton mitts.

6}    Postage :
After you've spent hours lovingly knitting your item the last thing you want is the parcel to get lost in the post, so I always send mine recorded delivery.

7}    Communication :
Always keep your customer updated with timings, progress, and any delays.

8}    Professional :
When you sell, be professional as if its a business, use order forms, invoices, keeping a copy for your records and adding care instructions, and a thank you note or thank you card will set you apart from other sellers.

So sell your knitwear and take pride in your work

Bucket hat.

When my girls were young the only sun hats you could buy were frilly little bonnets with thin elastic the went under the chin, which if the infant didn't like the hat and pulled often left a red mark where the elastic twanged up and struck them under their chin, not good

So when I saw a little girl in our village last week wearing a little bucket sun hat, I thought I would make a few for my next craft fair

These will be double sided with different patterns.

This one is made from poly cotton blue flower and strawberry pattern materials

the pattern is from #Sweet red poppy

Sensory toys

As the craft fair season has now started again for 2026 I've made a few round sensory toys out of scraps of material left over from items I've sewn over the winter, and odd ends of ribbons, all the ribbons are triple sewn and the sensory toys are backed with a soft fleecy material.

Happy new year

Hello 2026, I though I would add a quick blog showing some of my latest work that's ready for when this years craft fairs start, I'm hoping to get 4 or 5 this year and a big 2 day event in November for Christmas.

All of these have some cable work on them which makes them look a bit fancy.

These are all made using my favorite Pato yarn
